Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix in vanilla and almond extract.
  6. If using, add food coloring and gently fold it in.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of meringue onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 1.5 hours or until cookies are dry and easily lift off the paper.
  9. Turn off the oven and let cookies cool inside for an hour.
