  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Fresh strawberries for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
  6. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans to cool completely.
  9. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  10. Spread whipped cream between the cake layers and on top.
  11. Decorate with fresh strawberries.
