Description
Thiruvathirai Kali is a traditional sweet porridge made during festivals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup rice
- 1 cup jaggery
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- 1/4 cup roasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Wash and soak the rice for 2 hours.
- Drain the rice and grind it coarsely.
- In a pot, boil water and add the ground rice.
- Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
- Cook until the mixture thickens.
- Add jaggery and mix until dissolved.
- Add grated coconut, cardamom powder, and ghee.
- Mix well and add roasted sesame seeds.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Adjust jaggery to taste.
- Use fresh coconut for better flavor.
- Serve with banana for extra taste.
