Description
Soft pretzels served with a creamy cheese dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp coarse salt
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Divide the dough into small pieces and shape into pretzels.
- Boil water and baking soda in a pot.
- Dip each pretzel in the boiling solution for 30 seconds.
- Place pretzels on a baking sheet, brush with egg, and sprinkle salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, add milk, and cheese until smooth for the dip.
Notes
- Serve pretzels warm.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Cheese dip can be made in advance and reheated.
