Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp coarse salt
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces and shape into pretzels.
  7. Boil water and baking soda in a pot.
  8. Dip each pretzel in the boiling solution for 30 seconds.
  9. Place pretzels on a baking sheet, brush with egg, and sprinkle salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  11. In a saucepan, melt butter, add milk, and cheese until smooth for the dip.
