Description

Sarma Dolma are stuffed grape leaves filled with a savory mixture, served with a refreshing Caçik yogurt sauce.


Ingredients

  • 50 grape leaves, rinsed
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cucumber, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté onions until translucent.
  2. Add rice, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
  4. Lay one grape leaf flat. Place a spoonful of filling at the base and roll tightly.
  5. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
  6. Place rolled leaves in a pot and add vegetable broth and lemon juice.
  7. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
  8. For the sauce, mix yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and salt in a bowl.
  9. Serve sarma with Caçik yogurt sauce on the side.
