Instructions

  5. Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract.

  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Mix in the red food coloring until the batter is well combined.
  9. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.

  11. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
