- 0.33 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.12 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups whole milk
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 11 ounces vanilla wafers
- 4 ripe bananas
Instructions
- Whisk sugar, flour, and salt in a saucepan.
- Stir milk into the dry mixture.
- Cook over medium heat until the liquid thickens.
- Beat egg yolks in a small bowl.
- Whisk a small amount of hot milk mixture into the yolks.
- Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan.
- Cook for 2 minutes while stirring.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Layer wafers and bananas in a glass dish.
- Pour the warm pudding over the layers.
- Repeat the layers until you use all ingredients.
- Refrigerate your pudding for 4 hours before you serve it.
Notes
- Select bananas with brown spots for more sweetness.
- Press plastic wrap against the pudding surface to stop a skin from forming.
- Chill the dish thoroughly to set the custard.
