Ingredients

  • 0.33 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.12 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 11 ounces vanilla wafers
  • 4 ripe bananas

Instructions

  1. Whisk sugar, flour, and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Stir milk into the dry mixture.
  3. Cook over medium heat until the liquid thickens.
  4. Beat egg yolks in a small bowl.
  5. Whisk a small amount of hot milk mixture into the yolks.
  6. Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan.
  7. Cook for 2 minutes while stirring.
  8. Remove the pan from heat and stir in vanilla.
  9. Layer wafers and bananas in a glass dish.
  10. Pour the warm pudding over the layers.
  11. Repeat the layers until you use all ingredients.
  12. Refrigerate your pudding for 4 hours before you serve it.

Notes

  • Select bananas with brown spots for more sweetness.
  • Press plastic wrap against the pudding surface to stop a skin from forming.
