Description

Modak Sweet Dumplings are traditional Indian sweets made from rice flour and filled with coconut and jaggery.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup jaggery
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a pot and add salt.
  2. Add rice flour to the boiling water and mix well.
  3. Cover and let it steam for a few minutes.
  4. In another pan, heat grated coconut and jaggery until melted.
  5. Add cardamom powder to the coconut mixture and mix.
  6. Take small portions of the rice dough and shape them into cups.
  7. Add a spoonful of the coconut filling into each cup.
  8. Seal the dumplings by pinching the edges together.
  9. Steam the dumplings for about 10-15 minutes.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
