Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttercream frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla, and milk; mix well.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  7. Pour the batter into prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool before frosting.
  10. Spread the buttercream frosting evenly on top of one cake, place the second cake on top, and frost the top and sides.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing.
  • Store the cake in a cool place.
  • Feel free to add food coloring to the frosting for a pop of color.
