Description
A flavorful dish combining rice, dried fruits, and nuts, typical of Middle Eastern cuisine.
Ingredients

- 2 cups basmati rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup mixed dried fruits (apricots, raisins, dates)
- 1 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios, walnuts)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, heat olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until golden.
- Add the rice and stir for 2 minutes.
- Pour in water and add salt and cinnamon.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender.
- While the rice cooks, chop the dried fruits and nuts.
- Once the rice is done, fluff it with a fork and mix in the dried fruits and nuts.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Adjust the quantity of dried fruits and nuts to your taste.
- Try adding saffron for extra flavor.
- This dish pairs well with grilled meats.
