Description

A savory Middle Eastern dish featuring layers of chickpeas, tender lamb or beef, and toasted bread, topped with yogurt and spices.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups chickpeas, cooked
  • 500g lamb or beef, minced
  • 4 pieces pita bread, toasted and broken
  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Pine nuts for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until golden.
  3. Add minced lamb or beef, cook until browned.
  4. Stir in cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. In a serving dish, layer toasted pita bread, followed by chickpeas.
  6. Spread the meat mixture over the chickpeas.
  7. Top with yogurt and garnish with pine nuts.
