Description
Medfouna is a traditional Berber stuffed bread filled with a savory mixture of meat, spices, and vegetables.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g of flour
- 300ml of water
- 10g of salt
- 30ml of olive oil
- 400g of ground meat
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp of cumin
- 1 tsp of paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Mix flour, salt, and olive oil in a bowl.
- Gradually add water and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- In a skillet, sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- Add ground meat, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper; cook until browned.
- Stir in parsley and set aside to cool.
- Divide the dough into two pieces.
- Roll out the first piece and place the meat mixture on top.
- Cover with the second piece of dough and seal the edges.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve warm for best flavor.
- Can be made ahead and reheated.
