Description
Indonesian Beef Rendang is a rich, flavorful dish made with tender beef slow-cooked in coconut milk and spices.
Ingredients

- 2 lbs beef, cut into cubes
- 1 can coconut milk (14 oz)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 inches ginger, grated
- 3 tablespoons rendang spice paste
- 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 kaffir lime leaves
- 1 stick cinnamon
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in rendang spice paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour in coconut milk and add tamarind, brown sugar, and salt.
- Add lime leaves and cinnamon stick.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 hours.
- Stir occasionally until beef is tender and sauce thickens.
- Serve hot with rice.
