Description

Discover how to make perfectly golden and flaky Egg Puff Pastry Tarts. This easy recipe combines buttery puff pastry with a rich, creamy egg custard, making it ideal for breakfast, brunch, or a light snack. Simple to prepare, yet elegantly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet (about 1012 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese (cheddar, Gruyère, etc.)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives, pinch of nutmeg, sprinkle of paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin with melted butter.
  2. Unfold thawed puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface; gently roll to about 10×12 inches.
  3. Using a 3.5-inch round cutter, cut out 12 circles. Gently press each circle into a muffin cup.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk eggs, milk, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until combined.
  5. Stir in grated cheese and any optional additions.
  6. Carefully pour egg filling into each puff pastry-lined muffin cup, filling about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until pastry is golden and puffed, and filling is set.
  8. Remove from oven, let cool in tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure puff pastry is very cold when working with it for best flakiness.
  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 5-10 minutes to re-crisp the pastry.
  • Feel free to customize the filling with different cheeses, herbs, or finely diced vegetables.
