Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Dip calamari in buttermilk, then coat in flour mixture.
  4. Fry calamari in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat marinara sauce and stir in red pepper flakes.
  7. Serve calamari hot with spicy marinara sauce on the side.
